Renold J. Capocasale, Founder & CEO
Mr. Capocasale is a scientific researcher with more than 20 years in immunological primary, translational and pharmaceutical research and more than 13 years in biologic therapeutic drug development. He is an expert in polychromatic flow cytometry, cell sorting, immunology, cell biology, assay development, and cell culture technology.
Since 1989, Mr. Capocasale has authored more than 30 published scientific manuscripts, all in peer reviewed journals, and professionally exhibited abstracts. He is co-author of one US Patent. He has been an invited speaker to international platform presentations for the Congress of International Drug Discovery Science and Technology, the International Congress of Immunology, and Experimental Biology, in addition to national, regional and local conferences. Mr. Capocasale co-authored a chapter on the “Application of Flow Cytometry in Drug Development” for Immunotoxicology Strategies for Pharmaceutical Safety Assessment, published by John Wiley & Sons in August 2008.
Mr. Capocasale graduated from Villanova University in May 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and has extensive graduate course work in Immunology and Biotechnology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He worked as a Research Scientist for Centocor, a Johnson & Johnson biologic research and development company, until December 2009, when he founded FlowMetric, Inc. His work at Centocor earned him five prestigious Johnson & Johnson awards for scientific excellence and innovation. He is an Eagle Scout and a member of the Sigma Xi Research Honorary.
Eric N. Hallberg, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Hallberg is an expert in computational math and mathematical modeling. Dr. Hallberg brings over 20 years in operations management from the United States Navy, as well as 14 years of experience in academia developing algorithms for data analysis and computational modeling on a wide range of computing architectures. Dr. Hallberg is responsible for the development of FlowMetric intellectual property concerning analysis, feature extraction, and interpretation of high-dimensional data sets. Dr. Hallberg graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Dr. Hallberg received his M.S. and Ph.D. from the Naval Postgraduate School while serving on active duty in the United States Navy.
Ed Giles, President & Director of Human Resources
Mr. Giles is a proven P&L leader who started and led profitable ancillary businesses for BJ’s Wholesale Club, resulting in nearly $1 billion in revenues in 2007. He has held executive management positions in a Fortune 300 company, managed $25-50 million in yearly capital spending and was the key strategic advisor to the CEO. His track record of continuous improvement in operational efficiencies resulted in the company being recognized as the lowest cost operator in the retail industry.
While at BJ’s, Giles had chain-wide oversight for all critical functions involving expenses, capital spend, new business development, merchandising, customer analytics and human resources. He also directed and implemented all store merchandising prototypes, layouts and daily merchandising display standards. Giles established strong relationships with all Consumer Package Goods vendor partners to maximize the company’s yearly business plans and demonstrated expertise in all facets of fresh food management and production.
Ed Giles is a graduate of St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Giles has completed prestigious professional development programs such as Strategic Planning and Management in Retail at William and Mary Mason School of Business; Enhancing Leadership Performance at University of Chicago Graduate School of Business; and Finance for Executives at Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management.
Nerissa Simon, Director, Business Development
Ms. Simon is an accomplished scientist with a solid research background consisting of 15 years in pre-clinical drug development in the pharmaceutical industry. Over the past 10 years, Ms. Simon’s expertise aided the progression of several novel antimicrobial compounds to clinical trials, some of which are still on-target for launch. Her nursing education has strengthened her medical knowledge as well as critical thinking and communication skills with a more diverse inter-disciplinary team. In 2009, Ms. Simon was selected as one of 58 world-wide employees to represent then-employer GlaxoSmithKline as an ambassador to the Company as part of CEO Andrew Witty’s PULSE Program. In this leadership role, Ms. Simon lived and worked in Kisumu, Kenya, strengthening the infrastructure of a local Kenyan non-government organization (NGO) to improve childhood survival with early detection and treatment for underserved families in rural villages around Kisumu. Her Kenyan team included medical staff, business professionals, laboratory technologists and HIV counselors.
Ms. Simon graduated from Drexel University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She completed some graduate coursework in microbiology and pharmacology before deciding to pursue nursing at the Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing from 2005-2007. She has been a licensed R.N. since 2007 and her license is current and active. Ms. Simon worked as a Scientist for GlaxoSmithKline R&D from 1996 to 2011, where she earned six prestigious Recognition Awards (2003-2010), an Exceptional Scientist Award (2005) an Outstanding Scientist Award (2008).
